New Environment IAA to boost impact in environmental research

A new opportunity for researchers who are undertaking environment-related research across any disciplinary area has just been launched.
The new Environmental Impact Acceleration Account (Environment IAA) will maximise the impact of Oxford’s environmental sciences research beyond academia by funding direct costs of knowledge exchange, translation, and commercialisation. It will support research projects and collaborations in driving policy change, developing new licensing and spin-outs, and more generally in driving sustainable economic growth across the region, nations and globally.
Funded via the University’s Strategic Innovation Fund and managed by the Social Sciences Division, the Environment IAA is interdisciplinary and as such, it is open to researchers from any academic division with support from a cross-divisional team.
This builds upon Oxford’s Strategic Research Fund investments on initiatives central to net zero emissions (Oxford Net Zero), zero carbon energy research (Net ZERO Institute), sustainable chemistry, and sustainable natural resource management (Oxford EARTH).
Aileen Marshall-Brown, Head of Engagement for the Social Sciences Division, said: “We are excited to open the new Environment IAA to applications from researchers who are undertaking environment-related research across all disciplines. We know that effective nature restoration creates a virtuous cycle, where managing the environment not only benefits the planet but also drives social and economic prosperity. This new opportunity will accelerate that impact."
The Environment IAA will support a portfolio of activities at different stages of impact development through three complementary streams, from kick-starting stages to larger scale projects.
